How gross to net works in Belgium
Belgian gross pay is first reduced by the 13.07% employee social security contribution. The remaining taxable base is taxed through progressive brackets (25%, 40%, 45% and 50%) after standard professional expenses and the tax-free allowance linked to your family situation.
Municipal surcharges (around 7% of the tax due) and, for lower incomes, the work bonus complete the picture. This calculator reproduces that sequence to estimate your monthly net salary, annual net, benefit value and total employer cost.
A Belgian package usually also includes meal vouchers, eco-vouchers, group insurance, a company car (benefit in kind) or a CBA 90 bonus. These are lightly taxed and often worth more than a gross raise, so the tool values them alongside your salary.

Frequently asked questions
What is the net salary for €3,000 gross in Belgium?
Roughly €2,250 to €2,350 per month for a single person with no children, depending on the municipality and benefits. The calculator refines this for your own situation.
How much does an employee cost an employer in Belgium?
Typically 1.3 to 1.4 times the annual gross, because of roughly 25% employer social contributions plus insurance premiums. The tool shows this total cost.
Are meal vouchers taxed?
No. The employer share is exempt from tax and social security as long as the employee contributes at least €1.09 per voucher, which is why they raise real net pay efficiently.
How are students taxed?
Within the 650-hour quota, a student pays a 2.71% solidarity contribution instead of 13.07% and stays exempt from withholding tax below the income ceiling.
Does this replace a payslip?
No. It is an indicative estimate based on simplified 2026 scales; your payroll provider remains the official reference.
